At $3,500, the Vision Pro isn’t exactly pocket change, and not everyone is ready to drop that much on a headset. However, it does have some standout features.
Take Jon M. Chu, the director of Wicked, for instance. He found the Vision Pro invaluable during the film’s post-production. While reviewing the movie on a massive virtual screen, he was able to collaborate with his team scattered across the globe. “For ‘Wicked,’ we had a lot of visual effects all around the world. I could be at home with a screen bigger than the one in the screening room, talking to people on different continents while watching playback,” he explained.
He appreciated how he could zoom in and annotate directly on the screen with his fingers, making it easier to highlight areas that needed editing. It gave him a fresh perspective on the material. With the Vision Pro, he could open multiple windows and arrange them in his physical space, enhancing his workflow.
Apple even shared a brief video of Chu talking about his experience with the Vision Pro, and it’s worth a look.
Before “Wicked” made a splash, Chu was already diving into the world of spatial computing. The Vision Pro offered him a limitless canvas to edit and innovate, igniting his creativity.
Wicked is a musical inspired by the classic The Wizard of Oz and is currently available for pre-order on the Apple TV app. Plus, it will be released in 3D for anyone with the Apple Vision Pro.
